Andorra Re-Edit

I didn't have much time to edit the Andorra video so when we got back to Austria after the race i spent some time and re-edited it. The other edit was already posted though so this version has been sitting on my hardrive for the last couple of months. I didn't want it to go to waste so I just uploaded it to my vimeo account.

Interview

I'm still slacking on the posts but I really haven't done much for the past couple of weeks, that will all change tomorrow though when I leave for National Championships in Sol Vista kicking off 4 weeks of racing. I'll try and post more but till then here is an interview that Fall Line Productions did with me. Its nothing to special but it was the first time in front of the camera for me and probably one of the last.

Dirt Masters Video

After Andorra we headed to Germany for the IXS Dirt Masters, it's a local race in Germany that draws huge numbers of participants and big crowds. It turned out to be a fun weekend with Jared winning the 4x and Sam winning the Downhill. After the race we headed back to Austria for a week off before going to Scotland.

Andorra Video

Unfortunately I don't think that this edit really does the race in Andorra justice but I only had a few hours to get the video done. I am hoping to do a re-edit in the next few days if I have time in order to tell more of the story from the race. Until its done enjoy this one which I still think has a lot of great riding in it.

Andorra Day 2

We woke up to more rain in Andorra today but I was expecting it so it wasn't a surprise. I spent the morning editing and looked out the window and saw that it was clearing up so I went out to start shooting the next video. Of course as soon as I get set up it starts to rain so I head back to hotel. I did some more editing and then headed back up the mountain determined to get some shots even if the rain didn't stop. Well the rain didn't stop it actually got worse and they ended up canceling 4x practice. At this point I was wet and cold and wanted to try and salvage the day and get some shots. I stuck it out and watched as the clouds broke which made for a nice sunset. Hopefully today is the end of the rain but I have a feeling that isn't. Tomorrow is DH practice in the morning and 4x in the afternoon. If the weather is anything like it was today it's going to make for some hard work tomorrow.

France Video

Last weekend we were in La Bresse, France. Le Bresse is a quite little town that played host to the 2nd DH race of the World Cup series. It was a short open track that a lot of people were calling old school. It definitely reminded me of the tracks that i use to watch in all the videos growing up and it made me feel like we were finally in Europe at a World Cup. Not many people there spoke English and I don't speak French so it made for some interesting situations. I worked hard on this video and I'm happy with how it turned out and I can't wait for this weekends racing.

Andorra

We drove all day yesterday through France and got to Andorra late last night. The drive was very scenic and a great way to see France. The race is in a resort town named Vallnord. It's an awesome town with a mix of old and new buildings. There is a gondola that you take from the town up to the pit area and then another lift to the top of the Downhill track. We woke up to off and on rain showers today, i was excited to see the mountain so i took the gondola up to the pits. It was cold and rainy and the mountain still has a lot of snow on it. I heard that they had to dig out the track because the snow hasn't melted yet. The weather forecast is calling for rain and cold weather the rest of the week so it should be an interesting race.

Belgium Video

Here is the video from Belgium. I'm really happy with how it came out. The video from La Bresse should be posted by tonight.

Belgium

Houffalize is well known for its cycling fans and a place that i have wanted to visit for a long time so it was awesome to finally get there. It was a long day of driving from Austria to make it to our hotel which was in a small town outside of Houffalize. Our hotel room was the smallest room i have ever seen so I had to sleep in the van for the 4 nights that we were there. It wasn't the best but I made due and it was well worth it on Saturday night when Jared won the 4x. I have never seen so many fans at a race before that night. The atmosphere was awesome and it was cool that they had it under the lights(even the though they gave off the worst green flickering glow). Since the race didn't start till the evening I was able to do a little bit of exploring Saturday morning and stumbled upon an old castle that was above the town we were in. I was excited to be able to check it out especially since it was the first time that I was able to get away and see apart of Europe that didn't involve bikes. We leave for France in the morning for the next round of the World Cup in La Bresse.

South Africa Part 2

South Africa is an amazing place and I feel very lucky to have been able to go and experience it first hand. After the race in Peitermaritzburg we spent two days on the Nambiti Game Reserve relaxing and checking out the wildlife. It is hands down one of the coolest places i have ever been. Everything about it was awesome, the people were nice, the food was good, and the views were amazing. We would go out in the jeep every morning and evening and chill during the day. We saw giraffes, cheetahs, lions, wildebeests, buffalo, ostrich, kudu, impala, and zebras. It was unreal how close we would get to the animals. Once the safari was over we headed to airport were the team and I flew to Austria. We will be based out of Vienna for the next couple of months here at our European team managers house. We are some pictures I took with my point shoot from the safari.

South Africa

We landed in Johannesburg after about 20 hours of traveling and were greeted by the South African Yeti distributors who are our tour guides for the trip. After waiting for the rest of the team and collecting our luggage we were off to the hotel. We stayed the first two nights in a nice hotel outside of Johannesburg. First impressions of South Africa is of all the security, everyone has a wall around there house with an electrical fence on top and some people even have guards and bars on there windows. It made me feel a little bit uneasy but everyone we have met has been very nice. The above photo was taken from my balcony in the hotel room.

Our second day here we spent in downtown Johannesburg. We had a nice lunch where we were able to try some of the local food and beer. I had ostrich, crocodile and tried these weird worms (i can't remember the exact name of them). The ostrich and crocodile were really good and believe it or not the worms weren't that bad.

We got up early this morning and made the drive to Peitermaritzburg, it took us about 4 hours and was a nice way to see some of the African country side. We are staying in a nice house here that has a great view of the town. The race doesn't start till Thursday so there isn't much to do until then.

Fox Media Launch

On top of all the Yeti videos I will doing this year I will also be working for Fox Racing Shox and doing some videos for them. It's going to be a hectic summer but it gives me the chance to shoot some different riders and go to some really cool events. I spent the beginning of the week at the Fox Media Launch. Every year Fox invites people from different media outlets to come and check out there new products. This year was a little bit different because they had all of the different divisions together. This means that along with bikes they also had motorsports and powersports. The event was at Zaca Station which is near Solvang, CA. I was really excited because i got the opportunity to shoot some really fast motocross riders. It was my first time seeing a top motocross rider in action and it was awesome getting to shoot video of them.

The highlight of the weekend for me was riding in the new Ford Rapture. Ford did a really good job with this truck and it was a lot of fun to ride in. At one point we were going 90mph down a dirt road, it was a cool experience to say the least. I'm getting on a plane in the morning for South Africa. I can believe that the season is finally here and i get to travel to all of the world cups. The next couple of weeks are going to be crazy but I'll try to do some updates when i can.

California

I've been on the road for 12 days now and it's been awesome. I spent my first week in Southern California shooting video with Aaron Gwin. We started in Morongo Valley and then headed out on a road trip hitting spots around the state. Aaron is an amazing rider and a really cool person to be around, he is super easy going and down to do whatever. We got a lot of great shots that were using for a new feature on yeticycles.com. From there I headed to Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City, Nevada. It was my first team camp and my first time meeting some of the new riders on the team. The days were busy, filled with a lot of shooting and hanging out on the hill. Unfortunately I won't be seeing any of the regional and national team again until Nation Championships in July. Now I'm back in California where I spent the day with Joey Schusler filming in Pine Valley. We had a really productive day of shooting in the morning and evening. The above photo is from one of dolly shots we set up. We are heading out bright and early in the morning for Fontana.

I'm Off

I leave for California in the morning to go and shoot with Aaron Gwin for about a week. From there I will be heading to Bootleg Canyon for team camp, then back to California for the Fox media launch. I'm excited to finally start traveling. It has been a busy weekend trying to pack and get ready to leave. It has been a hard decision on what exactly to bring but I have decided on 4 bags. My Cinebag CB-25 Revolution Camera Bag, Burton Snowboard bag for dolly and tripod, 661 messenger bag for computer and hardrives, and 661 rolling gear bag. It's going to be a lot to carry around but i don't really have any other choice.

Employee Bios

Here are the first two videos that I made at Yeti, Seth's and Peter's bios. It was a lot of fun shooting, editing, and getting to know more about them and what they do for the company.

New Dolly

One of the advantages of my job is working with one of the most talented welder/fabricators in the business. About a week ago i showed Shane my old dolly and asked him if he would be able to make me a new one. After a short discussion of ideas a few photos for inspiration and a couple of trips to buy aluminum this is what was made. A lightweight portable dolly. Thanks Shane, I'm so stoked!
